While Seasons 1 and 2 were focused on supporting DEI leaders, Season 3 (and beyond) will target organizational leaders in general.

Hey everybody, this is Joanna Shoffner Scott.

You are listening to the Race in the Workplace podcast. I wanted to come online to give you an update on what I've been working on.

The landscape in which I work has shifted dramatically since I launched my podcast in April 2022. Because of this, I have made some necessary changes in my work, and this podcast will also reflect those changes.

When I first started the podcast, it was a way to speak directly with people leading DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) efforts. I saw so much goodwill, high aspirations, and a great deal of struggle in this space, and I still see that.

Connecting through the pod was my way of supporting folks doing that work. But with time and reflection, I now understand that for equity work to be successful, it needs four specific things: committed leadership, clear values and identity, systems and processes, and aligned organizational behaviors.

So, while seasons one and two were produced for DEI leaders, the upcoming season—Season 3—and subsequent seasons will be organized and produced for organizational leaders.
